SOUTHMEAD PRIDE MAJORETTES

Southmead Carol Bus decided to try and get a new majorettes dance group started in Southmead, as the last troop finished about 7 years ago, lucky for us we got hold of a great teacher who was prepared to help teach young children from the ages of 4 for beginners, which is great for Chris and the other teachers. Below is Chris, ,Katie & Steph write ups

My name is Christine Parsons

This a quick run down of what I have done so far,

I started guard with the 234th North winds scout & guide Band for 1 year.
Then went on to Train with the world famous "Bristol Youth Marching Band" we became British champions, European champions and world champions over 10 yrs.

I also had a Majorette Group at "Romney Ave Infants", locally called the Silver Stars, for 1 year. Then at the Romney Ave Junior school for 4 yrs called the "Gold Stars". I then went on to form my own Troupe called the "Starlight Majorettes" for 10 yrs. We got quite a lot of Baton Trophies’, pompom Trophies and also in the "British Winter Guard Championships" we got up to 2nd place plus lots of 1st place's with different groups. Lastly I helped with "Pride of Bristol Colour Guard" cadets. I am now hoping to get the Southmead Pride Majorettes off to a great start, 30 children all wanting to learn new skills. Hopefully they will do well.

MY NAME IS STEPH

I started at 6 years old in Severn Stars in 1997 and progressed with them until 2002 at the age of 11 until Severn Stars entered the ENGLAND team then went to Prague and won a couple of gold’s with the England team in the European championship. After we came back the troop, after a short while, broke up.

Then in 2004 I joined Starlight’s to teach, which I was there for a while, and also did some solo completions

I had to leave to have my baby girl, and as she is growing up, I am back again to teach what I really enjoy. I hope to send the Southmead Pride troop to competitions and to win with my routines

MY NAME IS KATIE

I joined Starlight Majorettes in 2004 at aged 14 and stayed with them for a year and went on a couple of parades.

I then left and joined Cohesion Colour Guard for 2 years. I went to Bath and got my National diploma in dance and then went on to teach at the colour guard which went on to the A class finales in Brentwood, Essex and performed in competitions in Crystal palace. Now I am back again in Southmead, Bristol teaching something that I love doing. Good luck kids!
