My name is Steve and I am the Founder and Chief Instructor of the Bristol Dragons Karate Club.

It has been my pleasure to teach karate in the Southmead area of Bristol for over 3 years, initially with another club and finally on my own.

I have been training in various forms of self-defence for over ten years and previously taught in Southend in Essex, before moving to Bristol. I left my previous club as I believed it did not have the true spirit of karate and the students at heart. After much cajoling from parents in Southmead I approached the English Karate Organisation, who offered an assessment on my teaching and karate abilities and I was honoured to have qualified with them in the rank of Chief Instructor.

I teach children and adults from many different social and family backgrounds and in the time the club has been running it has been with extraordinary pride I have watched the sometimes confused or angry individuals become young pillars of the community and even what I would consider leaders within their own club.

We have in our group children with many obstacles to overcome from partial-hearing to drug controlled illnesses such as ADHD. They have encouraged me to continue on even when it felt that it was too much and I hold them very dear to my heart and it is again with the greatest pride that I am allowed to teach them.

In the conception of the club to now, we have overcome many obstacles including attacks from other organisations and have come through to be one of the strongest clubs in the area. This is however down to the drive, commitment and devotion of the students within the club. They are the building block of our club and I can truly say they are very proud and selfless members of the community.
